Sac City, Iowa man charged with multiple burglaries NEW INFORMATION: Confession

According to court records that were just made public, Buster John Wirtjers of Sac City, Iowa has confessed to at least two of the Burglary in the 3rd (Class D felonies) accusations.

The Sac City, Iowa Police Department reports that Buster John Wirtjers of Sac City, Iowa has been charged with four counts of Burglary in the 3rd Degree, each Class D Felonies, and one count of Attempted Burglary, an Aggravated Misdemeanor.

According to the police, During the months of July and August, the SCPD investigated four home burglaries in which several personal effects were removed. In a follow up call conducted on October 27, 2010, Sac City Chief of Police John Thomsen refused to disclose the nature of the items removed. At one home an undisclosed amount of cash is alleged to have been stolen.

According to the police report, force was used to gain entry to the homes. In the case of the attempted burglary, forced was used to attempt entry, but entry was not gained. In each case the victims were out of town.

While investigating the burglaries, the Sac City police department recovered forensic evidence that was sent to the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigations. According to the police report, a match of the forensic evidence was made to Buster John Wirtjers of Sac City, Iowa.

On October 22, 2010 the Sac City Police Department, with the assistance of the Sac County Sheriff’s Department, served a search warrant at the Buster John Wirtjers residence, located at 610 South 10th Street in Sac City, Iowa. During the search the stolen property was recovered.
