If you live south of Main Street this notice is for you. Municipal Pipe Tool Company LLC of Hudson, Iowa has been contracted by the City of Sac City to improve the sewer main that serves your area. The contractor will be installing a cured in place pipe liner into the existing sewer pipeline. This form of trenchless sewer rehabilitation is much quicker, safer, and is more cost effective than traditional open cut sewer replacement methods. While the work is being performed, your sanitary service will be temporarily sealed off and it will be reopened after the liner is cured. This normally takes one workday. A further notice will be sent to you requesting that you DO NOT flush toilets, take showers or baths, do laundry or dishes, or operate sump pumps which are connected to the sewer system on a designated day. If you do use your water, it will fill up your service line and it has the potential of backing up into your building or home if your traps or backflow preventers are not functioning properly.
During this project you may be inconvenienced by traffic control to provide a safe work environment for the crew and noise from air compressors or generators. Once they begin this process, they must continue until finished so some night work may be required in limited situations. To avoid any odors, run a little water in your plumbing to fill the traps the day before or morning of the designated day.
