SAC CITY - In an attempt to fix the red water problem in the area of town near the Sac Country Club, the city will be hiring the Triton Lining Technologies at an estimated cost of between $45,000 and $50,000 to fix the line suspected of causing the problem.
The council watched a film demonstrating the process which involves a three part process. The first part of the process is a brushing system will be rotated through the line to break out looser material. The second step will employ a fitted scraper to get rid of the attached material stuck to the ides of the line. The third step employs a water tube attached to a nozzle that will be pulled backwards through the pipe blowing the remaining material out.
City administrator Adam Ledford indicated that the city will provide the affected residents with an alternative source of water during this process.
The actual line that it is believed needs attention runs from the corner of South 9th street, south around the curve and back up to Oak Hill drive in a “J”. Work is tentatively scheduled to begin in May, 2012.
