East Sac County School Board discuss initial board policies
SAC CITY, IOWA – JUNE 21, 2010
1. Board is responsible for paying initial election costs – Done.
2. Determining division of assets.
- How long will they leave sac and WLVA money available for paying bills.
- Need to set a date after which all bills are merged.
- They have until July 20, 2011 to determine this date.
3. Board to decide if they will establish director districts for the purpose of voting.
- This will lead to the “2-2-1” method of election.
- If director districts are established, it will not be divided between WLVA and Sac districts, but due to disbursement of population, will be combination areas that include both Sac and WLVA populations.
4. Board needs to set term limits.
5. Determining terms of re-election.
- Interim board will be replaced in the next 3 election.
- How many people should be up for election every year?
6. May establish policy that takes effect July 1, 2011.
7. Will have jurisdiction over personnel effective July 1, 2011.
- current boards could reduce staff before the ESC board takes over jurisdiction.
8. When negotiating new contracts, the WLVA contract will be used as the basis for the beginning of negotiations.
9. Future reorganization costs.
10. Continuation of property levy.
11. Determine disposition of property.
12. Transition of the financial system.
13. Summation of duties.
14. Board decides to meet an hour before the next meeting. (date not yet set)
15. Adjournment.
