Sac City Fire Call - April 13, 2010

SAC CITY, IOWA

At 3 4:45PM, the Sac City Fire Department was summoned to the tree line on Robbins Street near Kid's World for a "Large fire.” When they arrived they found a resident burning their brush. The fire was under control.

The firefighters moistened nearby trees before securing from the call.

  3. I will say that we were in the middle of soccer practice at the elementary school. The fire was a minimum of 12 ft tall. It was very big and actually caught the eye of almost everyone on the fields that day. It was a legit call especially for how windy the day was. The fire was at the base of some trees that are along side the wooded area. This could have easilly gotten out of hand.

  4. I agree with above comment. It was a legit call. I was @ the soccer field too, and oh buddy!!! I thought there were wind speed guide lines that went along with burning. Common sense should tell us when winds are steady 30 mph. gusting to 45mph, YOU DON'T LIGHT A FIRE!!!
