Kid's World representatives, Mollie Scott, Tom Munger, and Steve Irwin were summoned before the Sac City Council on December 14, 2009 to answer any questions the council might have for them regarding their request for city assistance. (See request below)
The request for $10,000 is for the second half of the assistance that was appropriated for them in June, 2009.
Clearly demonstrating that their hearts just aren't in it anymore, the Sac City Council wasted their time and:
1. How are the numbers?
A. The number of children is the same, but the number of hours that those children are spending at the center is lower.
2. How have the fundraisers been going?
A. They have had three successful fundraisers, (they did not say how much was raised and no-one thought to question them.) Councilman Gary Hansen pointed out that they had, "A heck of a bake sale"
3. Do you see finances leveling out?
A. Yes. There was a recent increase in rates which has to a certain extent, made up for the loss of hours.
With those questions answered, The Sac City Council voted to make the payment of $10,000 to Kid's World.
At one point several years ago, the council pursued a line of questioning that went something like, "Why are we giving you $10,000 just so you can pay us back $10,000?"
The fire in those bellys didn't last long, eh?
