Aloysia M. Bernhardt, age 81, of Odebolt, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, July 10, 2010, at Horn Memorial Hospital in Ida Grove, Iowa.
Aloysia M. Bengford was born in Odebolt, on March 27, 1929 to parents John and Nettie (Albers) Bengford. She was a life-long Odebolt resident and attended school in Odebolt. She was baptized in 1929 and confirmed into the faith in 1941 at St. Martin’s Catholic Church.
Aloysia met her lifelong companion in Wesley Bernhardt. They were married in Early, Iowa on December 29, 1952 and were blessed with five children: Sandie, Linda, Cheryl, Gary, and Keith. She was employed at Super Valu Foods as a clerk, retiring in 1990.
Aloysia’s life revolved around her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend who loved to help others. She enjoyed cooking for her family and friends and solving puzzles. Aloysia always cherished time spent with her children and grandchildren and looked forward to their visits. She will be truly missed by those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband, Wesley Bernhardt of Odebolt; children: Sandie (Kenneth) Fineran of Norfolk, NE, Linda (Jerry) Youngren of Odebolt, Cheryl (Ward) Meeves of Yorba Linda, CA, Gary (Gretchen) Bernhardt of Sheldon, IA, and Keith Bernhardt of Lakewood, CO; brother Raymond Bengford of Deloit; sisters: Marie Pollien of Odebolt, Eileen (Lou) Cass of Dunlap, and Rita (Marvin) Tiefenthaler of Early; grandchildren: Jeff (Leah) Fineran of Norfolk, NE, Travis Youngren of Odebolt, Chastity and Collin Meeves of Yorba Linda, CA, Jared Bernhardt of Sheldon, IA, Halee, Cameron and Daniel Bernhardt of Columbus, GA; Justin Surat of Chandler, AZ, and Austin Surat of Cave Creek, AZ; great grandchildren: Maddilyn and Blaine Fineran of Norfolk, NE; many nieces, nephews and friends. Aloysia was preceded in death by her parents John and Nettie Bengford, and brothers: Leo, Joe, Lawrence and Ed Bengford.
