Lanesboro – Donna Winker, 63, died Saturday, December 26, 2009 at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge. Arrangements are pending at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.


Donna is survived by her husband, Bob of Lanesboro; sons, Rex and special friend Zacharina of Auburn, and Kevin of Lake City; grandchildren, Emily Winker and Hunter Winker; brother, Lee (Marilyn) Johnson of Loveland, CO; sisters, Nancy (Roger) Bowman of Loveland CO, and Norma Bowman and special friend Jeff of Lanesboro; half-sister, Connie Vote of Bradgate; mother-in-law, Mertyl Winker of Lanesboro; sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Bob) DeSart of Lanesboro, Karen (Bob) Wiggs of DeSoto, Kathy (Al) Tech of Denison, Diane Allen and special friend Lon of Emmetsburg, Jolene (Joe) George of Coon Rapids; brothers-in-law, William “Bill” Winker and special friend Diane of Loveland, CO, Ricky Winker and special friend Julie of Benson, AZ, and Rodney Winker of Sac City; numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and all the people who knew and loved Donna. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Larry Johnson, Wilbur Johnson, and twin brother, Donnie Johnson; sister, Linda Arredondo; father-in-law, LeRoy Winker; brothers-in-law, Ronnie Winker and Don Gray; and great-nephew, Josh McClure.

Donna Johnson was born December 19, 1946 at Lake City, Iowa to Everett and Irene (Gatton) Johnson. On September 3, 1966, she was married to Robert Winker at Lake City and together they resided in Lanesboro. Donna worked at Casey’s Convenience Store in Lake City for 23 years and enjoyed talking to all her customers. She loved spending time with her family, playing with her grandkids, bonfires and having a beer at the North End.

Geneva "Gen" Hansen, age 96, of Storm Lake, Iowa and formerly of Newell and Sac City, Iowa died Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at the Methodist Manor Retirement Community in Storm Lake.
Geneva Gosch was born August 26, 1913 in Odebolt, Iowa the daughter of Henry and Josephine Emma (Greve) Gosch. She was baptized September 14, 1913 at the Odebolt Presbyterian Church. Geneva grew up in the Odebolt area attending country school and later Odebolt high school.

On August 15, 1930 she was united in marriage to Joe Hansen at the Presbyterian parsonage in Cherokee, Iowa. This union was blessed with three children: Gale Elmer, Norma Jean, JoAnn. Their family made their home in Aurelia, Ida Grove, and Arthur. In 1943, they moved to the Newell area where they were members of the Congregational Church. In 1976, Geneva and Joe moved to Storm Lake where they transferred their membership to the United Methodist Church.

Geneva had fond memories of fishing with her family. She loved dancing and traveling with her husband, Joe. Geneva was an avid reader of books from her church library. She was a member of the Neighborhood DD Club and the Birthday Club. She thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family and will be deeply missed.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Gale (Carol) Hansen of Sac City, Iowa; Norma (Del) Johnson of Storm Lake, Iowa; JoAnn (Darvin) Saddoris of Carroll, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; one sister, Virginia (Kenneth) Brinkley of Spencer, Iowa; extended family and friends.

Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; one brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Evelyn Gosch; one granddaughter, Mary Anderson.

Passed Away - George C. Shull

George C. Shull, age 77, of Sac City, Iowa, died Monday, December 28, 2009, at Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge, Iowa.

Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 2, 2010, at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City. The Reverend Randy Russom will officiate.
Burial to follow in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City. Military graveside honors will be conducted by VFW Post 590.
Friends may call at Christensen-Huffman Funeral Home in Sac City on Friday from 2-8 p.m.

Born July 7, 1932, in Sac City, Iowa, George Carroll Shull was the son of Arlo and Mary (Engler) Shull. He grew up and received his education in Sac City, graduating from Sac City High School in 1951. George served two years in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. Following his tour of duty, he attended the University of South Dakota where he earned his bacherlor's degree in accounting.

On December 21, 1957, George was united in marriage to Lillian Lundgren in Des Moines, Iowa. George and Lill returned to his home town of Sac City where they raised their three children, Jeff, Tracy, and Deb. Together they operated Shull Accounting in Sac City, where George remained active until the time of his death.

George served on the board of directors of Cookies, Inc. and was a member and former president of the Parents Association at the University of Northern Iowa. In earlier years he was active in Kiwanis Club. He had many hobbies, all of them centered around family activities. He loved boating and water skiing, motorcycling, convertibles, and sporting events of all kinds. George was very handy and spent many happy hours working on his cars. He especially enjoyed time spent with his four grandsons.

Survivors include two daughters, Tracy Fliger of Cedar Rapids, and Deb Shull of Adel; and four grandsons, Jeff and Sam Hambrecht of Adel, and Kyle and Shawn Fliger of Cedar Rapids. He is also survived by five sisters and four brothers, Norma Rix of Holiday Island, AR, Connie Olsen of Deadwood, SD, Anne Bennett of McCall, ID, Joan (Boyd) Mayberry of Kirksville, MO, Jane (Gene) Olson of Dallas, TX, Don (Mary) Shull of LeMars, Dennis (Luana) Shull and Doug (Carol) Shull, all of Indianola, and Mike Shull of Sioux City; as well as many nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 2008; a son, Jeff Shull in 1983; and his parents.

Entertainment for Sac City All-School Reunion announced

The FaceBook fanpage, "Sac City All-School Reunion" has just announced that the bands, The Magnificent Board of Directors and Hundred Proof, have been hired to perform.

The "Sac City All-School Reunion" will be on July 3, 2010 at the Sac County Fairgrounds. There is no indication at the FaceBook page if graduates of East Sac County High are invited.
