Odebolt, Iowa juveniles charged with Reckless Use of Explosives
Sac County Sheriff's Office charged four juvenile males two of them age 16, one age 15 and the other age 14 with Reckless Use of Explosives. Three of the juveniles are from Odebolt, Iowa. The fourth is from Primghar, Iowa. On the afternoon of Monday June 27, 2011, it is alleged that all four were in a motor vehicle and had made an explosive device with drain cleaner and aluminum foil. This device was thrown out of a vehicle in the 500 block of south Main Street, where it exploded. Nothing was damaged and no one was injured.
All four juveniles were located by sheriff's deputies and transported to the Sac County Sheriff's Office. It was also determined that prior to throwing out the homemade explosive device in Odebolt, the four had thrown several others out in rural Sac County.
Reckless Use of Explosives is a serious misdemeanor. All four were released to their parents pending and appearance with juvenile court authorities.
All persons are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Early, Iowa man goes airborne in truck
Sac County Sheriff's Office investigated a single vehicle accident on Monday June 27, 2011. The accident occurred ½ mile north of 220th on Lee Ave northeast of Early, Iowa. The accident was reported at 11:24AM.
According to the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, Dale Richard Nellis age 64 of Early was operating a 2008 Dodge Dakota truck and was traveling south on Lee Ave in the 2100 mile. Nellis entered the west ditch, and stuck a field drive. Nellis's vehicle went airborne and landed on its wheels where the truck came to rest.
Nellis received non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Buena Vista Regional Medical Center in Storm Lake by Sac County Ambulance. The Nellis vehicle received an estimated $5000.00 in damage. No charges have been filed.
