April 10, 2011
Beulah Imming, and Rosie Herman of the Varina Auxiliary and Eldona Hornor and Harriet Boothby of the Varina Methodist Church take time out from their own concerns to feed the volunteers and line workers that are helping to dig their town out from the rubble.
The food they are serving was supposed to be used for the Ladies Spring Social, an event that often attracts upwards of 150 attendees but was pressed into service feeding the hungry workers. Ladies from as far away as Galva brought food and bars to be used for the event. Said Ms. Herman, "It was meant to be."
There are 70+ more photos of the damage to Varina, and the rural area around the Nemaha and Newell area at http://facebook.com/thesacnews
