Wall Lake City Council Members discuss ongoing nuisance properties
WALL LAKE, IOWA – JUNE 28, 2010
1. First property discussed is owned by an elderly woman who lives in Sac City, Iowa and the daughter of the property owner claims she cannot get the woman to sell it. The bills are current and the electricity is on. There is a refrigerator in the front yard that the city will removed after informing the property owner. They will bill it to her account.
2. Second property discussed was accompanied by an email attempting to appeal to the city, as the mailer claims that the property is the only means of income for the property owner.
Following is a copy of the letter with the city’s response:
3. Third property discussed is almost in compliance. New basement wall, deck, windows and doors, siding, etc. Interior has had water damaged carpet removed and does not smell as bad, according to city clerk. The owner goes back to court on June 29, 2010 to try to get an extension.
4. Fourth property is owned by an out of town gentleman who purchased the property over the internet and claims to not have known what he was getting into.
5. Fifth piece of property discussed was owned by the city and it was sold some time ago. The owners of the property need to get an abstract from the bank.
