Raymond Currie, age 93, of Schaller, Iowa died June 30, 2011 at the Char-Mac Assisted Living in Holstein, Iowa.
Raymond A. Currie was born March 16, 1918 in Schaller, Iowa the son of Asa and Amelia (Jensen) Currie. Growing up, Ray was baptized and confirmed at the First Presbyterian Church in Schaller where he remained a lifelong member.

He attended Eureka Township Country School and later graduated from Schaller High School in 1937.

In 1942, Ray entered the United States Army as a Selectee in the 34th Division in the 109 Medical Battalion, where he proudly served his country during World War II. He was honorably discharged in June of 1945.

On March 14, 1948, Ray was united in marriage to Shirley Rundle in Paton, Iowa. Together, they were blessed with two children: Craig and Deborah.

Ray was a member of Farm Bureau, Rural Electric Coop Board, Masons, 50 year member of the Eastern Star Consistory, and a member of the Shriner’s of Sioux City.

Ray enjoyed woodworking and traveling. He loved socializing and having coffee with his friends. Ray treasured his family and will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Craig (Diane Malfeld) Currie of St. Paul, Minnesota; Deborah (TJ) Bell of Albuquerque, New Mexico; grandchildren: Kathryn (Erik Levy) Currie of St. Paul, Minnesota; Julia Currie of St. Paul, Minnesota; sister, Marian Benson of Austin, Minnesota; extended family and friends.

Ray was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley; parents, Asa and Amelia Currie; and brothers, Roger and Bruce.
