We need some changes in our high school football program.

ReplyDeleteWell from what I understand from the outside looking in, the coaches are doing pretty good with the number of players they have to put on the field each Friday night. I would guess since this team seems young that the future can only get brighter in upcoming seasons.
ReplyDeleteAnd why are our numbers so low for a 2A school?
ReplyDeleteWell I would guess it has to do with many different things. I haven't been in the community long enough to understand all the reasons. I have heard there are a few injuries and school issues for some kids. I understand there are a lot of underclassmen getting playing time. I would give it time for them to get where they want to go. Young teams can build on each year and then success will bring more kids out for the sport.
ReplyDeleteWe have a great chance to win this Friday. Ricke should rack up some big yards. He has the ability to accumulate significant yards after contact. Remember that our District has two rated teams and another getting votes for the top ten in the state. Good luck this week.
ReplyDeletePS Our 8th grade squad has some real good prospects. The future looks bright.
I think they have a great chance of winning every Friday night if they believe in themselves and have the support and motivation of the community around them. Funny how people react when they are given purpose, direction and motivation... anything is possible!
ReplyDeleteToday Coach Dennis Villhauer took an undersized and outnumbered 3rd/4th grade time onto the field to play IKM Manning. The kids looked across the field and all they could say was "wow they are so big". They could have given up at that point and thought well we can't win. But the coach kept them motivated and moving forward. The Sac City team lost by a big margin but it was a great time watching Coach Villhauer's young men and women make great improvement right before the home crowd's eyes. Now if that isn't a positive for the future of ESC football I don't know what is.
