Ivamay “Babe” Huen, age 81, of Houma, LA, formerly of Sac City, IA, passed away Monday, June 27, 2011, at The Oaks of Houma, in Houma, LA. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 2, 2011, at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City. Visitation will be from 5-7:00 p.m., Friday, and 8:30-10:30 a.m., Saturday, prior to the services at the funeral home. Burial will be at the Oakland Cemetery in Sac City under the direction of the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home.
Ivamay Waddell was born on August 17, 1929, in Wall Lake, IA, to parents Mayberry and Anna (Jensen) Waddell. She attended the Lake View Schools.
On July 31, 1948, Ivamay was united in marriage to Emmett Huen in Lake View. They lived in Carroll, then Lake View, and in 1955 moved to Sac City. In 1961 they moved to Lytton, in 1964 moved to a farm in Nemaha, and in 1967 moved south living in several states; Missouri, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kansas and since 2003, resided in Houma, Louisiana.
Ivamay enjoyed being a homemaker, her family and grandchildren brought her great joy. She also was a housekeeper for others. She lived a fulfilled life and had many interests including: playing cards, working crossword puzzles, loved going to the senior center and visiting with friends, playing BINGO, and watching soap operas.
Survived by her children: Gary Huen of Overland Park, KS, Robert Huen of Houma, LA, Michael (Amy) Huen of Houma, LA, Frances (Coleman) Perritt of Houma, LA, Dorothy Caples of Missouri, and Donna Gibson of Houma, LA; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband Emmett; parents Mayberry and Anna Waddell; and sons Dennis and Rodney Huen.
