La Vona Mae Bartlett, age 83, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away on Friday, June 24, 2011, at Loring Hospital in Sac City. La Vona Huse was born on October 13, 1927, in Lincoln, NE, to William and Martha (Hoppen) Huse. The Huse family moved to Rudd, IA, when La Vona was eight where she graduated from high school. On March 1, 1949, La Vona was united in marriage to George Bartlett at Faith Lutheran Church in Omaha, NE.
Their first home was on a farm near Wall Lake and La Vona worked at the Coffee Cup Café for about 10 years. They lived and farmed in several areas before moving back to Wall Lake after retiring. La Vona loved helping with the farm work, working in her vegetable and flower gardens, cooking and baking, and had a special interest in interior design. Her other hobbies included golfing, bowling and arts and craft projects. They enjoyed traveling and spending the cold winters in Arizona. Some of LaVona’s favorite travels would be to Washington, D.C. and her last trip to Alaska.
Survivors include her nieces: Pamela (Skip) Hildebrand of Mason City; Donna Pudenz of Carroll; Debra (Mike) Daniel of Lanesboro; Joyce (Mark) Peterson of Kansas City, KS; and Janine Pudenz of Elkhart, IA; nephews: Dean Huse of Mason City; Darrell (Sandy) Pudenz of Carroll; and Tom (Diane) Pudenz of Carroll; brother-in-law Leon Pudenz of Carroll; and sister-in—law Mavis Bartlett of Wall Lake; and many extended family members.
La Vona was preceded in death by her parents; husband George on May 4, 2007; brother Willard Huse; sister-in-law Norma Jean Pudenz; brothers-in-law: Robert, Vyrl and Harold Bartlett; and parents-in-law George, Sr. and Sadie Bartlett.
