Edna Porter, 78, died Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Stewart Memorial Hospital in Lake City.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City with Rev. Betty Weidert officiating.
Burial will be in the Cedar Cemetery at Lytton.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday with family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lampe Funeral Home in Lake City.
Edna is survived by her husband, John Porter of Lytton; son, Darrel (Deb) Jones of Auburn; daughter, Barbara (Murphy) Lamaak of Waco, TX; 2 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Jessie Meusburger of Truesdale, Betty (Bob) Schilling of Diagonal, and Sharon England of Mt. Ayr. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean Jones; daughter, Elizabeth Jones; son, Duane Jones; sister, Pauline Olson; and brothers, Kenneth Means and Ralph Means.
Edna Agnes Porter was born August 10, 1932 at Corning, Iowa to J.F. and Goldie (Hyde) Means. She was married to Dean Jones on March 15, 1951 at Lytton, IA, following his death in 1968, she was later married to John Porter on June 30, 1969 at Red Oak, IA. Edna worked in the cafeteria for the Lytton Community Schools for 16 years before retiring in 1992. Edna enjoyed quilting, sewing, and embroidering as well as taking care of her flowers and especially cardinals.
