Ruth Rehm, age 85, of Wall Lake, IA, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2011, at Loring Hospital in Sac City.
Ruth Margaret Monroe was born July 16, 1925, to Oren and Elsie (Landis) Monroe in Eldora, IA. She attended school in Lake View, graduating from Lake View High School. Following graduation, she worked at the Raft Packing Company in Waterloo. Then after two years, she moved to Rockwell City to work on the rations board and at the Rockwell City Bank.
On December 28, 1946, she was united in marriage to Joseph Eugene Rehm in Sac City. To this union seven children were born: Connie, Bob, Rich, Mary Ann, Tom, Donnie, and Deb. After Ruth and Joseph were married, they resided in the Rockwell City/Auburn/Sac City area and lived there for many years. Ruth and Joe moved to Wall Lake in the late 1980’s and Ruth has remained there until her passing.
Ruth took great pride in caring for her children and making a home for her family. She loved playing cards, reading, and trips to Las Vegas. She enjoyed time spent with her card group and coffee group. Most of all she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Ruth was very proud to become a great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her “Angel Food cake”, but most of all being a loving and selfless wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Ruth was a member of the St. Joseph’s Catholic Church and the St. Joseph’s Guild.
Those left to cherish her memory include her children: Connie (Denny) Ludwig of Carroll, IA, Rich (Carolyn) Rehm of Urbandale, IA, Tom (Marcy) Rehm of Sac City, IA, Donnie (Shelley) Rehm of Sac City, IA and Deb (Steve) McEachron of Des Moines, IA; 12 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild; sister-in-laws: Joy Rehm Webster of Early, IA and Margaret Ann Rehm Briscoe of Kansas City, KS; brother-in-law: Ed (Mairlys) Rehm of Sac City, IA; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Rehm; parents Oren and Elsie Monroe; son Bob; and a daughter in infancy Mary Ann.
