LAKE VIEW, IOWA – OCTOBER 4, 2010
1. Several years ago SYM operated a canoe business on the little Sioux river north of Storm lake. They retained the canoes and would now like to rent them out on city property in the parking lot near the boat ramp.
- Canoes would be on a trailer and would not be stored there permanently.
-- the canoes would be towed in in the morning, and then towed out in the evening.
- All canoe licenses are maintained.
- Never had a serious problem with the canoes.
- Canoes would be available at any time, depending on the level of interest.
- The city would need to be named as an additional insured entity in the owners insurance policy.
- Laney is hesitant about allowing a business to operate in the parking lot.
-- Could create a precedent for allowing other businesses they don’t ant to operate.
- It is expected that there will be somebody on hand to rent the canoes out if the demand calls for it, otherwise there would be a contact number.
- Council asks for further research and presentation before moving forward.
2. They will be opening a candy and bake shop in the building across from Kathy’s Korner known as the old Luchtel building.
