Quick reminder: Tonight, the Sac City Council will be hiring an unskilled laborer at a cost of around $46,000 per year + overtime
Keep in mind that this is a newly created position, but the council is spinning it as merely bringing back a former position. If they get away with this spin, the door will be open for the council to hire seven more full time unskilled labor positions city employees at a cost of nearly $322,000.00 per year. Seven This is the number at least one member of the Sac City Council seems to be shooting for based on a conversation that took place at the meeting at which they created the current contested position.

Right Below the Sac City sign that says population 12 will be another sign:
ReplyDeleteThis town had the best, highest paid workforce money could buy.
There will be empty houses, stray cats, a terrible sewer system, great streets and a population of 12. They will take turns hiring each other.
In the event that happens one good thing is you will be gone. Or you will be one of the twelve and 11 of your followers cause you will have driven everyone else away. By the way what happened to your all knowing prediction of who the city was going to hire? WOW you were WRONG!!!! again, one of many more to come.
ReplyDeleteSC,
ReplyDeleteI and my "followers" (bah buh bahhhhh!) are very happy with this vote. We wake up today relived that the council, (including Jim Johnston which was totally unexpected and amazing!,) has changed direction regarding their underhanded hiring practices in this manner.
Hopefully this is a trend and not an anomaly.
... It's too bad about Bill Brenny, though. That guy really let his true colors show last night. There's now no longer any doubt about what kind of person he is. hopefully Barb stays healthy long enough to make it out of office so we don't have to have him as a Mayor.
ReplyDeleteNo wonder taxes are so f'n high! the amount of benefits to MOST of the residents of sac city is minimal for the amount of money MOST of the people this town employs....what makes the city employees worth any more than someone who actually gets his hands dirty and works his ass off for 12 dollars an hour and has to work 7 days a week sometimes 15 hour or more days...
ReplyDeleteImpressive- I have a college education and work at the hospital and don't make this much helping save lives! And the benefits are not great!
ReplyDeleteYa know what I find interesting.....How many of you that want to come to this site and bitch about what the "City" is going to pay for a particular position actually applied for said position? Sounds like Aesop's fable about the sour grapes again. Curt did you check to see how many applications the City received? It would be nice to know that number. To see how many people got off their lazy rumps to go down fill out an application, and also submit a resume. Yes, a resume makes a difference when an employer is looking to hire someone. Especially in the manner of what is currently going on in Sac City. Curt has made such a huge deal out of this hiring.
ReplyDeleteCurt, how many employees does the City currently have? How many employees did it have five years ago? Ten years ago? Have the services provided by the city increased, decreased, or stayed the same in that time period? Curt, could find out this info for us so that a proper comparison could be done for all to see? That would be great, I understand that you are a very busy individual, however, I was hoping that with your talented staff you might be able to squeeze time in to put something together like this.
Sign me,
A Former Resident
I know one person for a fact that applied for this position and didn't even get an interview! He has worked full time for a Sac City business for over 15 years and been a lifetime resident, is skilled in anything and everything this position would require and has way more experience then the canidate they are/or have hired. Don't tell me the that this is nothing but a popularity contest for the council!
ReplyDeleteIf the council is truely worried about the tax payers $ they would have looked at hiring a older employee that still has a good 20 + years left in him for less pay, instead of someone who could be there for 30 + years at this pay rate. Really makes me wonder what kind of raises our city employees receive, and how much this will cost us, the citizens!
I left this town for 5 years and then bought a home and moved back to start a family and now I am beginning to regret this decision.
It's not what you are it's who you are in Sac City. Always has been and always will be !!!!
