LAKE VIEW, IOWA – SEPTEMBER 20, 2010
At the September 20, 2010 Lake View City Council meeting, Lake View Mayor john Wetergaard proposed possible strategy for getting rid of Rardin’s Salvage. Under the proposal, the property would be re-zoned in a way that may not allow the current owner of the property to pass the property on to her next of kin in a way that would allow them to continue to operate as a salvage yard.
Councilperson Tim Laney expressed concerns that this strategy could leave the city open for a lawsuit for a number of reason, and councilperson Foval-North seemed to be uncomfortable with closing the door to the possibility of allowing another business to operate at the location.
The council instructed the city attorney to research the issue.
