East Sac County School votes to allow early 2011 start

SAC CITY, IOWA – OCTOBER 18, 2010

Technically, the law requires that schools not start school before the Monday after or on which September 1 occurs. In 2011 that would make the first eligible day for the start of School on Thursday, September 1.

There is a provision in the law that allows schools to begin earlier if they petition to do so. The East Sac County School board voted unanimously to petition to be allowed to begin earlier than September 1, 2011.
