Lake View City Council directs city administrator to look into less expensive sub base material for Phase 1 of Black Hawk trail
LAKE VIEW, IOWA – AUGUST 2, 2010
1. Work is a little behind due to wet weather.
2. Bid calls for 5 inch sub base, but as the site was being toured is was discovered that perhaps 5 inches was not deep enough to provide drainage stability long term.
- Contractor quoted $40,000 for additional 4 inches of limestone sub base material, called “much higher” than the engineer’s estimate.
3. Though city staff is reportedly not convinced of the need, the city administrator was directed by city council to get quotes for alternative sub base material.
