Funeral Service: Monday,10:30 a.m., February 22, 2010 at United Methodist Church, Sac City, IA.
Kathryn Myers Youberg, age 78, of Sac City, IA, died at her home surrounded by her family Tuesday, February 16, 2010. Visitation with the family will be held at the Farber & Otteman Funeral Home in Sac City from 2:00-5:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 21st. Funeral services will be at the United Methodist Church in Sac City at 10:30 a.m., Monday, February 22nd.


Kathryn Margaret Myers was born on March 3, 1931, to parents Roscoe and Pauline (Dexter) Myers in Allegan, MI. After losing her mother at the age of 10, Francis Van Tassel Myers was her mother for 45 years. She spent her childhood in Allegan, attending grade school there and graduating from Allegan High School. She earned a Bachelors Degree in Education and Journalism in 1953 at Michigan State University. She was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Mortar Board, President of her social sorority, and Editor of the Student newspaper.


She met David R. Youberg while working in Denver, and they were married December 28, 1954. She taught middle school while he finished Medical School, Residency, and served two years in the Air Force in Laredo, TX. They have three children: Mark, Ann and John. Katie was a lifelong Episcopalian and member of All Saints Episcopal Church in Storm Lake, IA.


She made a loving home for her family. She worked in journalism for one year and then went on to teach middle school for 10 years in Texas, Colorado, and as a substitute teacher in Sac City. She had many civic duties including serving as President of P.E.O., Sac City School Board for 12 years, Sac City Zoning Board for 42 years, Iowa Foster Care Review Board for 10 years, and a Hospice Volunteer for over 10 years. She loved bird watching and traveling. She will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved her. She had no enemies.


Those left to cherish her memory include her husband of 56 years, David Youberg; sons: Mark Youberg of Panama City, FL, and John Youberg (Linda) of Silverdale, WA; daughter Ann Youberg Czaja (Robert) of Tucson, AZ; grandchildren: Mason and Finn Youberg; brother George Myers (Donna) of Southport, NC; and many extended family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents Roscoe and Pauline, and stepmother Francis Myers.
