Minutes of the March 22, 2011 Sac County Supervisors Meeting

The Sac County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with all members present, Jack Bensley, Chairman, presiding. The minutes of the last meeting were approved with one correction. The proposed tile repair of $5,000.00 is in Joint DD 195, Calhoun and 51, Sac Counties, located in Section 29, Jackson Twp, Calhoun County.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to approve the agenda as posted. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to approve renewal of liquor license application submitted by Sac County Golf and Country Club. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to acknowledge receipt of a petition for cleanout on DD 86 open ditch located in Section 13, Cedar Twp. Ayes all, motion carried. The petition will be forwarded to the drainage engineer for investigation.
At 10:15, the Boards of Supervisors from Sac and Calhoun Counties met via telephone conference, as trustees of Joint DD 2 & 51, to discuss a revised letter to landowners in Joint DD 2 & 51. It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Hoag that Jack Bensley serve as chairman and Jim Dowling serve as secretary for this meeting. Ayes all, motion carried. It was noted that Gary Nicholson, Calhoun County Supervisor was absent.
After discussion on the letter as revised by the Drainage Engineer, it was moved by Hecht and seconded by Hoag to approve the revised letter to landowners in the district. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Jacobs to adjourn. Ayes all, motion carried.
The County Engineer faxed an update of activities of the county road crews and the status of current maintenance and construction projects.
Kim Laursen, area farmer, questioned the Board of Supervisors regarding the new weight limits on a bridge on 230th Street between Sections 6 & 7, Jackson Twp. Chris Murley, from the engineer’s office, provided some information on the bridge status, size, traffic count on the road, and funding options for replacement of the bridge. No action was taken.
It was moved by Hecht and seconded by Stock to accept a quote from Richards Construction of $35,231.00 for bridge replacement with twin metal culverts between Sections 22 & 27, Wheeler Twp. Ayes all, motion carried.
It was moved by Stock and seconded by Hecht to accept the low quote of $39,609.28 submitted by Vogel Traffic Services for 155.8 miles of pavement marking. Ayes all, motion carried.
With there being no further business, on motion, the meeting was adjourned.
