Garland Wilson, age 69, of Lake View, IA, passed away Thursday, February 3, 2011, at Methodist Hospital in Omaha, NE.
Garland Jon Wilson was born on December 5, 1941, to parents James and Freda (Poen) Wilson in Carroll, IA. He spent his early years in Lake View graduating from Lake View High School with the class of 1961. He then attended Journeyman-Lineman School in Illinois and worked as a lineman for 15 years prior to his career in farming.
Garland found the love of his life in nine days in Judy Harling and they were united in marriage on December 4, 1969. They were blessed with two children: Jon and Amy. Garland worked hard to provide for his family as a farmer, raising hogs and farming the land. He was a conservator of the land and received several conservation awards. He also made time for enjoying his six grandchildren, golfing, fishing, gambling, and traveling the United States. Garland had been to every continental state except Maine and enjoyed traveling each Christmas to Texas to visit Judy’s parents. He will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved him.
Those left to cherish his memory include his wife Judy; his children: Jon Robert (Kelly) Wilson of Fremont, NE, and Amy Kathryn (Tim) Schlegelmilch of Lincoln, NE; grandchildren: Tanner, Hannah, and Sarah Wilson, and Luke, Blake, and Addyson Schlegelmilch; brothers: Mark Wilson of Lake View, IA, and Steve (Sherri) Wilson of Lake View, IA; sister Linda (Robert) Bulter of Tucson, AZ; many cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, friends, and his favorite black lab, Charlie.
He was preceded in death by his parents James and Freda.
