Lake View City Council tables Camp VanMeveren annexation agreement talks pending further negotiation
LAKE VIEW, IOWA – JULY 6, 2010
1. City Administrator runs through the current proposed agreement.
2. The big change is that Camp VanMeveren would agree talk about being voluntarily annexed in ten years or upon subdivision of land for permanent residence.
- The wording of this isn’t strong enough for Jerry who pointed out that lake View has a law requiring annexation immediately, not in 10 years.
- Infiltration issues would still be under control of the city because they would be a customer, even if they aren’t part of the city.
-- Jerry wants a meter to read the amount of sewer coming out, with the feeling that there is more infiltration than meets the eye.
3. The city could force involuntary annexation.
- This method ends up getting voted on by the community and is more cumbersome.
4. Jack questions impact on all lift stations along the way to the plant.
5. Council votes to table agreement talks until the full council and representatives of VanMeveren are present.
